SAN FRANCISCO — March 24, 2015 — Bigcommerce, the ecommerce platform of choice for fast-growing brands, today announced that former eBay and Intuit executive Lorrie Norrington has joined its board of directors. Hailed as a trusted mentor to some of the top companies in Silicon Valley, she will bring her operations, leadership and product development expertise to Bigcommerce. Bigcommerce powers some of the world's best online experiences for many high-growth companies, including Enfamil, Cetaphil, Gibson Guitar and Ubisoft.
“I’ve seen firsthand how empowering business owners to focus on their products and customer experience can transform growth, and Bigcommerce is on a mission to help small and mid-size companies effectively compete,” said Norrington. “Bigcommerce enables retailers to focus on what they do best –buy and merchandise great products – while providing a superior end-to-end ecommerce experience.”
“As someone who’s well versed in all stages of ecommerce, from small businesses to enterprise-level retailers, Lorrie is a great leader to advise Bigcommerce as our platform evolves,” said Eddie Machaalani, Bigcommerce co-founder and CEO. “Throughout her career, Lorrie’s incredible accomplishments have earned her the respect of virtually every company in the Valley, and I’m honored she’ll be working with our team.”
Norrington’s knowledge of the global ecommerce market will help shape Bigcommerce’s strategy as the company expands internationally in the coming months. As President of eBay Marketplaces, she led eBay strategy and operations for millions of merchants in 39 countries and is intimately familiar with global expansion. In addition, her experience as CEO of Shopping.com makes her retail experience and understanding of online retailers’ sales and strategic targeting invaluable to the Bigcommerce team.
Norrington is also currently on the boards at DIRECTV, Autodesk and HubSpot. She is active in many of Silicon Valley’s standout technology companies and is a well-respected leader. She also acts as an Operating Partner and Advisor to Lead Edge Capital, where she provides counsel on growth-stage software and Internet business investments. Prior to her experience as eBay, she was executive vice president at Intuit and spent 20 years at GE.
Norrington joins a team of technology industry experts working with Bigcommerce. Most recently, Scott Dussault, former Demandware CFO joined Bigcommerce’s Board of Advisors alongside Chris Fry, former head of engineering at Twitter and Salesforce.com. Kal Raman, who honed his skills as an executive at Groupon and Amazon, was appointed to the Board of Directors in January to help scale high-growth operations.
